REPORTS FOR HND 2017 IN CAPITOL BAMENDA

Following the recommendations of the Regional Workshopon Clinical Internships (Placementsor
Practicum) held at Bamenda on 15 November 2016, we in CAPITOL have tried to use
the recommended tools and improved upon them; in this case the format for
writing of case study report.
We have selected
the following topics presented at HND defence on 25 April 2017 to illustrate the
need and importance of using the recommended tool for writing the case study
reports on:
-
- sickle cell anaemia in a child;
- appendicitis in an adult female
- postpartum haemorrhage;
- pressure ulcer in a 62 years old male;
- preeclampsia
All the case-studies were carried out at the Regional Hospital Bamenda from 27
September to 29 October 2016. Using this format gives uniformity to the reports
and standardization that is enjoyable.
We believe that students should be
helped to write standard scientific
documents instead of troubling one’self with school of thoughts. The school of
thought of the North West Regional Delegation of Public Health, defined in the
report of the Regional
Workshop on Clinical Internshipsheld at Bamenda
on 15 November 2016 and found at www.mfonfudaniel.blogspot.com should be adopted and used.
A case study
report should always highlight more insight on the pathology and show the roles
of each health team member in the management of the case.
It is
necessary that the supervisors should coach the students in writing their case
study reports starting at the data collecting level while on internship and
writing of the report instead of scolding and humiliating them. In order to
accomplish this mission of assistance one should be versed in computer science
or ask for help from a more competent colleague.
We believe
that it is this spirit of solidarity, learning from each other and
collaboration, that always makes us shine.
The case study
reports should always serve as a recent notes on the
pathophysiology and management of the case by the health team to any reader.
We pray that
our international partners should join us in training nurses of the health team
instead of training nurses of competition with medical doctors.
